About Jewl

Jewl has an extensive background in meditation, energy work, and healing. She began intense spiritual studies around 1988 after dealing with health issues. She began looking into alternative healing, energy work, and meditation using a spiritual approach. She studied many books, people, cultures and traditions. After a time doing self-study, she felt the need to seek out the guidance of others in her spiritual path. In the early 90s, Jewl began attending healing circles, meditation groups, and study groups and continued this group work for about 10 years in various forms.

Around 1995, Jewl studied Celtic Shamanism one-on-one with an elder of a Celtic Pagan group she had been practicing with. After completing many tasks and assignments, self-searching, ritual, breathing exercises, effective shielding, grounding, and meditation, Jewl was given a rite of passage by her mentor called a Rainbow Dedication. In this ritual, using candles of different colors representing different magick, the blessing to continue this work was given. She lived and breathed meditation and magick, immersing herself in the possibilities of the infinite. She studied synchronicities, meditation, calling of the spirits, breathwork, healing, focusing intent, and manifestation. She was hoping to become a high priestess. It was at this point in her personal journey that she decided this path of study was great learning but too regimented and religious for her.

Jewl began studying Native American Shamanism. She learned from books and from some of the people she had studied with in groups. She practiced meditation and Shamanic Journeying, finding her guides and asking for direction. Jewl then met a Shamanic Healer by chance who introduced her to Shamanic Stone Healing, learning how to focus intent and extract imbalances from the body using stones and breathwork. Later, she happened upon another Shaman who taught her to find her spirit guides/totem animals, and work with them, what they mean when they appear in life, and how to decipher their messages.

Buddhism has also been a part of Jewl's life since she began her spiritual studies. She started looking into Buddhism from the beginning but decided then that it wasn't the path for her. She later rediscovered Buddhism and saw the path in a new light. Jewl has great respect for all life, and has learned a lot about compassion from Buddhist studies. The way Jewl chooses to live her life comes from a Buddhist philosophy, understanding where people come from, therefore having compassion no matter what her experience may be with them, and respecting Karmic Law. It is this compassion, as well as her interest in the Huna philosophy of Hawaii that shapes her approach to each client.

In the Huna tradition, we have three selves, lower (subconsious), middle (conscious), and higher self (god self). It is through our connection with the lower self that we reach a connection with the higher self. Jewl believes this is why hypnotherapy and deep meditation creates a sense of balance and well being. Two of the main principles of Huna are everything seeks harmony and everything seeks love. All treatments are done with great love for the client, and an understanding of the greater human, universal, and spiritual connection.

Jewl also has a background in dance and yoga. She studied dance since she was a child, so began her learning about body awareness and kinesiology through dance. Since 1998, she has studied Middle Eastern (Belly) and other ethnic and fusion styles of dance. She has also been practicing yoga for about 3 years, learning more about body awareness, and breathwork.

In 2004, Jewl graduated from massage school with a Certification in Massage Therapy, and Reiki Level I. In Massage school, Jewl studied Lomi Lomi, Jin Shin Do, Foot Reflexology, as well as Swedish, Myofascial Release and Advanced Treatment/Medical massage.

After moving to Colorado from Seattle, she received her Reiki Level II and III (master practitioner/teacher) attunements. Jewl has recently rediscovered stone healing, and has found that this type of healing combined with Reiki can be a very powerful experience.

Jewl has studied Craniosacral Therapy with the Upledger Institute. Craniosacral Therapy is a subtle healing modality using gentle touch to facilitate the body's innate healing process. This type of therapy works with the Craniosacral System, and the body's inherent rhythms, releasing restrictions throughout the spine, joints, and cranial bones, and creating a deeply relaxing, and profoundly healing experience. Jewl is passionate about Craniosacral Therapy, and plans to continue advanced training through Upledger.

Jewl calls on her background in a holistic sense, incorporating body work and energy work, as well as guiding her clients when appropriate to use breathing exercises, grounding, meditation, and stretching bringing a greater sense of well being. She comes from a philosophy of universal love, trust in the spirit, and humility. She strives to live and breathe that philosophy in her daily life. Jewl is always a student with infinite new lessons to learn. In nearly 20 years of spiritual study, she has realized that the more you know the more there is to learn. If you are open to the teachings of spirit, there is always more to learn.
